Why it exists

Built by the people who run the event.

Most tournament software is written by programmers who have never sat at a control desk at 8 a.m. with fifty players waiting for a draw. This one is different: it was built in-house at Table Tennis Saskatchewan, first put to work at the 2026 Saskatchewan Winter Games, and has run every TTSASK championship since — the SASK Closed, the Provincial School Championships, and the team-event SITCO.

Every feature exists because a real event needed it. The team-tie lineup sheets, the cash-withdrawal planner, the TTCAN-seeded draws, the wall-poster QR code — none of it is theoretical.

When another province's technical director watched it running SITCO's team events, the first question was simply: “where can I get this?” — overheard at the 2026 National Championships, Winnipeg

That question is why this guide exists: so anyone can run a TTSASK tournament with it, so the board and officials can see what it does, and so it can one day help other organizations too.

What it does

Everything an event needs, in four stages.

From the moment entries arrive to the medal ceremony and the results archive — one app carries the whole event.

01 · Build the event

Set up in minutes

  • Players — add by hand or import a CSV; ratings, gender, club and province all captured
  • Pairs & teams — doubles pairings and full team rosters with captains
  • Every format — round robin (groups of 3–6), knockout (4/8/16/32), crossovers, and team ties
  • Team ties done right — 5-match SITCO or 9-match Swaythling (ITTF Reg 3.7.4) order
  • Divisions & consolation — A/B/C divisions and B-side draws for knocked-out players
  • Money planned ahead — prize amounts per place and a cash-withdrawal denominations list
02 · Make the draw

Seeded properly

  • TTCAN snake seeding — rated players distributed fairly across groups, unrated placed after
  • ITTF match order — correct playing order generated automatically for every format
  • One-click regenerate — change entries and rebuild the draw instantly
  • Best-of control — Bo3 / Bo5 / Bo7 / Bo9 per event
  • Brackets & groups — knockout trees and round-robin grids laid out ready to play
03 · Run the day

Score fast, live

  • Smart score entry — game-by-game, with winners advancing through the knockout automatically
  • Live standings — group tables recalculate the instant a score goes in
  • Team-tie entry — record each individual match within a tie, lineup and all
  • Multiple scoring desks — split events across gyms; each desk claims its own events
  • Works offline — bad venue wifi never stops play; scores sync when the connection returns
04 · Show & print

Results everywhere

  • Public live page — entries, draws, results, standings and medals for every spectator's phone
  • Match slips & scoresheets — half-page set-by-set sheets, team-tie sheets, per-group scoresheets
  • Wall posters & call sheets — printable draws and a scannable QR poster for the venue
  • Medals, prizes & cash — medal lists, signed prize-payout sheets, bank cash-prep sheet
  • School & points totals — point scales and school-by-school totals for scholastic events
  • Everything branded — TTSASK and TTCAN logos on every printout
The difference on a big day

Many gyms. Many desks. One tournament.

Scale up without losing control

A national-scale event runs across several gyms at once. This app was built for exactly that: each control desk signs in, claims the events it's running, and scores them — while the head table keeps full control of everything.

Event claiming. Two desks can never collide — an event belongs to one desk at a time, and the administrator can reassign it in a click.
Offline-first. Every desk keeps working with zero internet. The tournament never freezes because the gym wifi dropped.
Roles that hold. Scoring desks fill results and print — only the administrator changes players, draws or settings.

For everyone watching

A live results page in the palm of every hand.

Print one QR poster for the venue wall. Every player, parent and coach scans it and follows the whole event — no app to install, no login.

What makes it different

Made for operators, not licences.

Commercial tournament packages are capable, but they carry limits that show up on the busiest day. Here's where this one is built differently.

TTSASK Tournament Manager

✓
Team ties, first-class. SITCO and Swaythling lineups, individual-match entry, and clean per-tie sheets.
✓
Live public page + QR with player profiles and a permanent archive — included.
✓
Keeps scoring offline. A wifi drop slows the public view, never the tournament.
✓
Multiple desks across gyms with safe event ownership.
✓
Purpose-built printing — match slips, cash-prep, prize payout, school totals.
✓
Runs from one file. Nothing to install; back up and move anywhere.

Typical commercial software

—
Team events often awkward or bolted on; lineup printing limited.
—
Public results and rating features usually cost extra, if offered.
—
Frequently depends on a live connection to keep working.
—
Multi-station setups can be rigid or licensed per seat.
—
Printing is generic; local touches (cash, payouts) are manual.
—
Installs, accounts and per-event fees.
Keep this handy

Operator quick reference.

Running a tournament — the short version

  1. Before the day: enter the event on the Setup tab, import players, build events, generate draws, and print match slips.
  2. Going online: open the ☁ Cloud menu, put the tournament in the cloud, then “Go live” and print the QR poster for the wall.
  3. Extra desks: each scoring desk signs in, opens the tournament, and claims its events. They score; you keep control.
  4. During play: enter scores as matches finish. Standings and the public page update on their own.
  5. After each event: print the medal and prize-payout sheets; the winners flow straight through.
  6. At the end: click “Mark final” so the event stays online as a permanent public record, and back up the file.
If the internet fails at the venue, keep going — everything saves on the computer and catches up automatically when the connection returns. The tournament is never blocked by wifi.
